Ptolemy Sezar'ın güvenini kazanmaya çalışırken, kurnaz eski Kraliçe Kleopatra Sezar'a küçük bir oyun oynar ve Ptolemy'i devredışı bırakır. Sezar çok etkilendiği Kleopatra'yı kendisine eş olarak alır ve onu Mısır'ın tek hakimi ilan eder. Beraberliklerinden Caesarion adını verdikleri bir de oğulları olur. Ama Sezar'ın Roma'ya geri dönmesi gerekmektedir. Beraberinde Kleopatra'yı da götürür. Yeni kraliçe için görkemli bir karşılama töreni düzenlenir. Fakat kısa süre sonra Sezar suikaste uğrayınca güzel kraliçe de ülkesi Mısır'a geri döner.

Güzelliğiyle dört cihana nam salan Kleopatra ile kendini beğenmiş Sezar, Mısır halkı üzerine karşıt görüşlere sahiplerdir. Kleopatra Mısırlıların en az Romalılar kadar kültürlü ve değerli bir medeniyet olduğunu öne sürerken Sezar bunu hiçbir şekilde kabul etmemektedir. Kleopatra bunun üzerine Sezar'ı büyüleyecek bir saray yaptırmaya karar verir. Üç ay gibi imkansız bir sürede bitmesi gereken saray inşaatı için Mimar Temelius görevlendirilir. Bu imkansız görevi tamamlamak için Temelius'un, Asteriks, Oburiks ve Büyüfiks'in yardımlarına ihtiyacı olacaktır.
