Jenny har nu blivit tonåring. I och med det flyttar ett gäng helt nya känslor in i hennes huvud.

Att växa upp kan vara knepigt, och för den unga flickan Jenny är det just så. Hennes pappa får ett nytt jobb och familjen flyttar från det trygga livet i en småstad till storstaden San Francisco. Precis som alla andra så styrs Jenny av sina känslor; Glädje, Rädsla, Ilska, Avsky och Vemod. Känslorna bor i Huvudkontoret, ett kontrollcentrum inuti Jennys hjärna där de hjälper henne genom det dagliga livet. Jenny och hennes känslor kämpar med att anpassa sig till en ny stad, ett nytt hus och en ny skola – det blir lite mycket på en gång och det utbryter tumult i Huvudkontoret.

Pixars kortfilm som tar vid där "Insidan ut" slutade. Riley, nu 12 gammal, umgås med sina föräldrar när potentiella problem knackar på dörren. Mammas och pappas känslor känner sig tvingade att ta itu med att Riley ska på sin första dejt.

I en utopisk värld, där våld och brott i princip är utplånade via genetisk eliminering av känslor, lever personer som Nia och Silas ett lugnt, händelselöst och drönarlikt liv. De arbetar med att producera informationsmaterial på ett stort kontor och utväxlar enbart artighetsfraser. Livet är enkelt tills ett rykte börjar florera: en sjukdom som orsakar att människor visar känslor har brutit ut.

Äkta kärlek varar för evigt. Den vackra och egensinniga Fermina är svårflörtad och avvisar ilsket raden av friare. När Florentino får syn på henne blir han hjälplöst förälskad och för evigt fast. Han uppvaktar henne på avstånd med serenader och långa lidelsefulla brev. Efter månader av brevväxling tackar hon ja till äktenskap men ångrar sig och avböjer grymt. Istället gifter hon sig med den stilige läkaren Juvenal Urbino. Florentino ger dock inte upp utan väntar i årtionden på ett nytt tillfälle att få förklara Fermina sin kärlek.

Walter (Kevin Bacon) har precis avtjänat ett 12-årigt fängelsestraff, och med en mörk hemlighet återvänder han till sin hemstad med förhoppningen att kunna skapa ett nytt liv. Han får ett arbete, en lägenhet och snart också en flickvän (Kyra Sedgwick). Men inget kan få det förflutna ogjort och ett enda snedsteg kan göra att han förlorar allting. The Woodsman var mycket omtalad på festivalerna i Sundance och Cannes, där den också tävlade. Vid Londons Filmfestival vann den även för bästa debutfilm.

En gentlemannatjuv och en kvinnlig ficktjuv går samman för att blåsa en vacker ägarinna till ett parfymimperium. Romantiska förvecklingar och avundsjuka förvirrar dock planen.
