Maj 1940, druga svetovna vojna. Nacisti so zaokrožili francosko pristaniško mesto Dunkirk (Dunkerque), z letaki tamkajšnjim prebivalcem in vojakom napovedujejo njihov na videz brezupen položaj. Zaradi sovražne vojske na eni strani in morja na drugi strani, se zdi, kot da ni možnosti za preživetje. Toda v Veliki Britaniji pripravljajo drzno reševalno akcijo, v uspeh katere sprva verjame zelo malo posameznikov. Kljub temu pa se nekaj pogumnih moških poda v boj, da bi rešili svoje tovariše. Na plažah pred Dunkirkom namreč 400.000 mož čaka na njihovo pomoč. Christopher Nolan je film režiral po lastnem scenariju in ga tudi produciral skupaj z Emmo Thomas. Izvršni producent je Jake Myers.

Posebnost filma je, da je posnet v enem neprekinjenem posnetku, kar gledalcu da občutek, da se vedno nahaja v sredi vojnega območja, nad njim pa so navdušeni ne samo kritiki in poznavalci temveč tudi vsi gledalci zgodnjih posebnih projekcij po svetu. Leta 1917, ob vrhuncu Velike vojne, ko nobena stran ne popušča in je lahko vsak preboj skozi bojno linijo usoden za zmago ali poraz enega najbolj krvavih konfliktov 20. stoletja. Dva Britanska vojaka, Schofield in Blake dobita na pogled nemogočo nalogo. V bitki s časom morata prečkati sovražni teritorij in prenesti sporočilo, ki bo ustavilo napad, ki bi pomenil smrt 1600 vojakov, med njimi tudi brata vojaka Blakea. Prvo kar opazimo je, kako mlada sta vojaka, komaj iz fantovskih let. To sicer velja za večino vojnih filmov, a v 1. svetovni vojni je bilo še bolj izrazito. Življenja mladih fantov niso veliko štela in na sto tisoče jih je končalo pod rafali strojnic in topovskimi granatami krvavih front.

Zgodovinski spektakel Lawrence Arabski je za številne eden najboljših filmov vseh časov. V zadnji anketi uglednega britanskega filmskega časopisa Sight and Sound je bil izbran za četrtega najboljšega vseh časov po izboru anketiranih režiserjev. Leta 1967 je osvojil sedem oskarjev, med drugimi za najboljši film in režijo. Kontroverzni vojak in pustolovec T. E. Lawrence med vožnjo z motorjem umre. Po pogrebu se med prisotnimi odpre razprava o pokojniku. Njegovo ključno obdobje je bilo obdobje prve svetovne vojne. V tem času je bil poročnik britanske vojske v Kairu. Znan je bil kot ljubitelj arabske kulture in svojeglav ter neposlušen častnik. Kljub temu je bil zaradi poznavanja arabskega sveta poslan na misijo, da bi preiskal možnosti arabskega princa Faisala v uporu proti Turkom. Lawrence, izjemno šarmanten in iznajdljiv človek, je postal pomemben udeleženec v dogajanjih, ki so spremenila svet.

Januarja 1879 so Britanci napovedali vojno zoper zulujska plemena v Južni Afriki, v pričakovanju, da njihova dobro oborožena in izurjena armada ne bo imela težkega dela. Garnizija 1350 britanskih vojakov se je pod hribovjem Isandlwana spopadla z več kot 4000 zulujskimi vojščaki in ti so pregazili ter močno zdesetkali Angleže. Po zmagi nad Britanci so se Zulujci odpravili po njihovih sledeh do majhnega misijona Rorke's Drift, ki je služil kot oskrbovalna postaja in ga je stražilo še kakšnih 150 vojakov. V enem dnevu in noči, v sredo 22. januarja 1879 ter še naslednje jutro, je v zaporednih napadih Zulujcev potekalo obleganje majhne postojanke, vendar napadalcem ni uspelo vdreti vanjo in so se naposled umaknili.

Sharpe is a British series of television dramas starring Sean Bean as Richard Sharpe, a fictional British soldier in the Napoleonic Wars. Sharpe is the hero of a number of novels by Bernard Cornwell; most, though not all, of the episodes are based on the books. Produced by Celtic Films and Picture Palace Films for the ITV network, the series was shot mainly in Turkey and the Crimea, although some filming was also done in England, Spain and Portugal. The series originally ran from 1993 to 1997. In 2004, as part of ITV's new set of drama, ITV announced that it intended to produce new episodes of Sharpe, in co-production with BBC America, loosely based on his time in India, with Sean Bean continuing his role as Sharpe. Sharpe's Challenge is a two-part adventure; part one premiered on ITV on 23 April 2006, with part two being shown the following night. With more gore than earlier episodes, the show was broadcast by BBC America in September 2006.

Privates is a 2013 BBC One drama television series set in 1960 which follows the stories of eight privates who are part of the last intake of National Service, and their relationships with their officers and non-commissioned officers, civilian staff and families. The series was written by Damian Wayling, directed by Bryn Higgins and produced by Nick Pitt. The setting is the fictional North Yorkshire Regiment, although for dramatic effect the characters are from a variety of backgrounds including London, Liverpool, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Filmed in Northern Ireland, extras were provided by soldiers, wives and families of 2nd Battalion, The Rifles. Locations were Ballykinler Army Base, Tyrella Beach, South Promenade Newcastle.
