Film sledi zgodbi štirih preživelih pokola v Woodsboru, ki poskušajo nadaljevati s svojim življenjem v New Yorku. Začne se z umorom filmskega profesorja in se hitro stopnjuje, ko Ghostface nadaljuje svoj morilski pohod. Osrednji štirje liki, Samantha, Tara, Mindy in Chad se združijo s povratnikoma Gale Weathers in Kirby Reedom z namenom, da se spopadejo z zloglasnim morilcem.

Upokojeni veteran specialnih vojaških enot je ujet v neskončno dirko s časom. Vsako jutro se ob njegovi postelji pojavi zamaskiran in oborožen moški, ki mu streže po življenju. Poleg morilca v spalnici, se čez dan na različnih lokacija pojavljajo novi morilci … ko končno umre, se naslednje jutro prebudi in scenarij se ponovi. Da bi končno ustavil to neskončno trpljenje in prekinil časovno zanko, v kateri se je znašel, mora ugotoviti, kdo ali kaj stoji za vsem skupaj in zakaj ga želijo mrtvega.

Prvih 30 minut dogajanja spremljamo Noo na prvem zmenku s fantom, ki se pa ni končal dobro. Njena najboljša prijateljica je Mollie in tudi edina oseba, ki jo razume in na katero se lahko zanese. Nekega večera naključno spozna Stevea s katerim se zaplete. Vse je super, krasno, ljubezen in vse ostale neumnosti dokler se ne zmenita, da gresta na odmor za konec vikenda. A že prvi dan se zaplete, ko spotoma najprej zavijeta do njegove hiše. Tu Noa ugotovi, da je Steve narkoman in kmalu se znajde v zkleti zvezana z verigami...
