În Grecia antică, pasiunea a doi dintre cei mai legendari iubitori ai istoriei, Parisul, Prințul Troiei și Helen, regina Spartei, au dezlănțuit un război care ar devasta o civilizație. Răpirea Helen de către Paris, care o separă de soțul său, regele Menelaus, este o insultă că Mândria Familiei stabilește că un afront la Menelaus este un afront la fratele ei Agamemnon, puternicul rege al Micene, care întrunește în curând toate marile triburi ale Greciei pentru a o recupera pe Helen de la troieni și pentru a-și apăra onoarea fratelui ei. Adevărul este că lupta lui Agamemnon pentru onoare este coruptă de lăcomia lui incontrolabilă, întrucât trebuie să cucerească Troia pentru a prelua controlul asupra Mării Egee.

Hercule, fiul lui Zeus, este transformat într-un semi-zeu de către Hades, stăpânul Infernului, cel care plănuiește să-l detroneze pe Zeus. Co-scris și regizat de Zack Snyder, filmul aduce aclamatul roman grafic al lui Miller la viață combinând acțiunea vie cu fundale virtuale care captează versiunea sa a acestei povești istorice antice.

Atacat de Xerxes, zeul autodeclarat ce reprezintă o amenințare copleșitoare atât pe uscat cât și pe mare, Temistocle face compromisul de a se alia cu rivalii tradiționali, spartanii, care au trupe de infanterie. Proiectul se concentrează în principal pe lupta de la Artemisium (480 î.Hr.), luptă ce a avut loc concomitent cu Bătălia de la Termopile din filmul 300, în care a fost implicată flota condusă de Artemisia, noul film fiind restructurat pentru a nu fi o urmare directă a filmului 300.

Chinuit de amintirea unui păcat din trecut, Hercule devine mercenar. Alături de cinci camarazi devotați, pornește spre vechea Grecie punându-se în slujba celor bogați și folosindu-se de reputația sa legendară pentru a-și intimida dușmanii. Dar când mărinimosul conducător al Traciei și fiica sa îi cer ajutorul pentru a învinge un sălbatic și înspăimântător comandat militar, Hercule vede în asta o ocazie de face ca binele să triumfe și dreptatea să iasă la iveală... el trebuie să redevină eroul de altădată... trebuie să se ridice la nivelul propriei legende... trebuie să fie Hercule.
