Lee er nå mor til to gutter - og den eldste av dem, Hank, er innlagt på psykiatrisk sykehus etter å ha tent på huset til moren! En dag får Lee en alarmerende telefon fra Bessie. Hun har fått kreft, og hennes eneste mulighet til å overleve er å finne en ryggmargsdonor i den nærmeste familie. Selv om de ikke har snakket sammen på 20 år, tar Lee med seg sine to sønner den lange veien hjem - for å teste om de kan redde livet til sin tante.
