Etter å ha mottatt den franske æresmedaljen for å ha løst mysteriet med Den rosa panteren-diamanten, blir inspektør Jacques Clouseau omplassert av politiførstebetjent Dreyfus til en jobb der han ikke kan gjøre skade. Dessverre blir Den rosa panteren-diamanten stjålet igjen under en tyveribølge verden rundt. Hans tidligere suksess sikrer han en plass på Drømmelaget med verdens ledende detektiver. Clouseau er på saken igjen - og skaper kaos og ødeleggelse over hele kloden!
