Et lykkelig ektepar, Dan og Jody, henter hjem Dans nieser som har levd alene i villmarken i tre år. Like etter familieforøkelsen opplever de overnaturlige hendelser i hjemmet på natten. Jody får endelig en rolle i en oppsetning av Svanesjøen, men en konkurrent skaper uhyggelig stemning. Dan har en blomstrende karriere med sin forskning på sjimpanser, men disse blir snart i smarteste laget. Og nå begynner paret å mistenke at de blir forfulgt av det skumle spøkelset av barnas “Mama”. Sammen med råd fra sertifiserte eksperter og ved hjelp av en rekke kameraer, forsøker de å beskytte sin nye familie.

En traumatisert ekspilot går om bord i et fly i håp om å vinne tilbake ekskjæresten som er flyvertinne. I mellomtiden får piloten matforgiftning og noen må lande flyet.

Det får han anledning til i fullt monn siden han nå opererer i Washington DC, blant presidenter og annet fintfolk. Han blir denne gangen innvolvert i en sak der skumle mennesker bytter ut presidentens miljøpolitiske rådgiver. Hvem vil vel ha en miljøvernforkjemper i en slik stilling? Mye bedre da og erstatte ham med en dobbeltgjenger som vil at folk skal kjøre mere bil, bygge nye kjernekraftverk og fyre med mere kull. Uheldigvis for de slu forbryterne er Jane Spencer - Debrins tapte kjæreste - PR-sjef for den kidnappede miljømann. Og dermed blir til alt hell og all ulykke Frank satt på saken.

På et veddemål prøver en fotballhelt på John Hughes High School å gjøre Jane om til en vakker og populær balldronning i denne vanvittige ungdomsfilmen.
