Peter Stirling (O'Connor) heeft een ezel met een bijzondere gave: hij kan namelijk praten. In dit avontuur wordt Francis door het leger geconfisqueerd en Peter moet er alles aan doen om hem zijn vrijheid terug te geven. Dit wordt erg lastig als Peter er door een persoonsverwisseling wordt opgepakt door de militaire politie.
