Dies möchte sich ein Radiomoderator namens Zander Kelly zu Nutze machen und lädt daraufhin Joe für eine Talkrunde ein. Joe, der nur an das Gute in allem glaubt, erscheint und erzählt alles, was er bisher so in seinem Leben erlebt hat. Angefangen damit, wie er von seinen Eltern mitten in den Rocky Mountains allein gelassen wurde, als er gerade einmal acht Jahre alt war, von schrägen Typen, die er in seinem Internat getroffen hat, von einem Serienkiller, von den guten Menschen, die ihm begegnet sind, von einem traumhaft schönem Mädchen und von vielem mehr. Doch Sydney spielt ein doppeltes Spiel mit seinem neuen Partner und erleichtert Billy um seinen Anteil ...

Fortan ist er immer dabei: im Proberaum auf dem Bauernhof von Jans Eltern, wo die Mutter den kranken Vater per Zwangsjacke ans Bett fesselt, im blutigen Apartment von Koen, der nur Lust empfindet, wenn er Frauen misshandelt, und in dem verkommenen Loch, in dem Ivans Frau auf der Couch vor sich hindämmert und das schreiende Baby mit Kokain ruhigstellt. Dries ist ein Beobachter, der neugierig die Verkommenheit der Welt in sich hineinsaugt und abends heimkehrt in sein Designerloft hoch über den Dächern von Oostende, wo ihn seine hübsche Frau und manchmal auch eine Gespielin erwarten.
