In fünf Episoden erzählt „Night on Earth“ von den Ereignissen einer ganz bestimmten Nacht, die jeweils in einer von fünf großen Metropolen stattfinden. Ein Taxifahrer und seine teils aberwitzigen und kuriosen Erlebnisse mit einem seiner Fahrgäste stehen jeweils im Mittelpunkt des Geschehens.
