En urolig skuespiller begynder at optrevle, mens han optager en overnaturlig gyserfilm, hvilket får hans fremmedgjorte datter til at spekulere på, om han er ved at glide tilbage i sin tidligere afhængighed, eller om der er noget mere skummelt på spil.

En ellers lykkelig og velfungerende kernefamilie kommer ud i økonomiske problemer da begge forældre mister deres solide indtægter og konen tager et job som massøse på en klinik. Men det er mere end bare muskler der bliver taget under kærlig behandling af den af udelukkende kvinder bestående medarbejderstab. Filmen, der er halvt komedie og halvt drama, fungerer sådan set meget godt og er baseret på en virkelig familie, men da den både vil tiljuble Love-Hewitts yndigheder og formidle et vedkommende drama ender den med at skyde sig selv gevaldigt meget i foden. Velspillet men i sidste ende ikke særligt vellykket på grund af de alt for mange dagsordener.
