Any 1870. El capità Nathan Algren, un veterà de la guerra civil americana, va al Japó amb la missió d'ensenyar els japonesos com funcionen les armes que els venen els americans. La prioritat de l'emperador japonès, que vol modernitzar el seu país, és acabar amb els últims samurais. Katsumoto, l'últim líder d'aquest llinatge, captura el capità Algren, que ha resultat ferit. Durant la convalescència, Algren i Katsumoto establiran una relació que durà l'americà a aprendre el codi d'honor i les tradicions dels antics guerrers japonesos.

Una banda de bandits atemoreixen els habitants d'un petit poble, saquejant-los periòdicament sense pietat. Per repel·lir aquests atacs, els vilatans decideixen contractar mercenaris. Finalment, aconsegueixen els serveis de 7 guerrers, 7 samurais disposats a defensar-los a canvi, tan sols, de recer i menjar.

La pel·lícula és una adaptació de la famosa "Llegenda dels 47 ronin", que ja ha estat adaptada a la pantalla en diverses ocasions i que és considerada al Japó com una llegenda nacional, i posa de manifest el codi d'honor samurai per excel·lència: el Bushido. Ens trobem al segle XVII, al Japó feudal. Kai (Keanu Reeves, 'The Matrix') és un pària que s'uneix al líder dels 47 Ronin, 47 guerrers sense amo que van haver de convertir-se en outsiders després que el seu senyor fos obligat a cometre sepukku (suïcidi a l'estil samurai), Oishi (Hiroyuki Sanada, 'L'ocàs del samurai'). Junts lluitaran per venjar-se del traïdor que va matar el seu senyor i els va condemnar al desterrament. Per restablir l'honor a la seva terra natal, els guerrers es llancen a una recerca plena de dures proves capaces de destruir qualsevol.

Kenshin Himura és un extraordinari guerrer samurai que viu enmig d'una societat en la que els guerrers ja no serveixen per res. Passats ja 10 anys, al 1878, Kenshin arriba a Tòquio, on coneix en Kaoru, qui li ofereix quedar-se a viure en el seu dojo, el seu lloc de meditació. Tanmateix, l'antiga vida que Kenshin intenta deixar en el passat, tornarà per posar-se en contra seva.

Al Japó del segle XVI, en plena guerra civil, Genjuro i Tobei són dos germans amb ambicions de prosperitat que viuen en un humil poble amb les seves famílies. Ten years have passed since the end of Bakumatsu, an era of war that saw the uprising of citizens against the Tokugawa shogunate. The revolutionaries wanted to create a time of peace, and a thriving country free from oppression. The new age of Meiji has come, but peace has not yet been achieved. Swords are banned but people are still murdered in the streets. Orphans of war veterans are left with nowhere to go, while the government seems content to just line their pockets with money.

In Japan in the year 1600, at the dawn of a century-defining civil war, Lord Yoshii Toranaga is fighting for his life as his enemies on the Council of Regents unite against him, when a mysterious European ship is found marooned in a nearby fishing village.

Set in the 18th century, the show follows the Shogun Yoshimune, who likes to disguise himself as a low-ranking samurai and go into his capital of Edo to see the life of the common man, as well as to seek out and punish evildoers who would hurt his citizens. He is aided by Magistrate Oo'oka and a vivacious fireman, Tatsugoro, as well as a rotating cast of other recurring characters. Along with Zenigata Heiji and Mito Kōmon, it ranks among the longest-running series in the jidaigeki genre. Like so many other jidaigeki, it falls in the category of kanzen-chōaku, loosely, "rewarding good and punishing evil."

The Meiji Era was one of great renewal for Japan, where swords and killing were outlawed. However, many survivors from the time of Revolution still live, lurking in the shadows and waiting for a chance to use their killing blades again. Only Kenshin Himura, formerly one of the most brutal of killers, hopes to keep his swordsman's honor and still live in the new era.

During the Sengoku period, there are many factions constantly at war. One of these is led by a one-eyed man named Date Masamune and another by the imposing Takeda Shingen. The latter has a fiercely loyal subordinate named Sanada Yukimura who goes head to head against Date Masamune multiple times, but the battles between them tend to get interrupted. One such battle occurs when both men try to go after another leader named Imagawa, and they’re forced to break off their heated duel when Imagawa attempts to flee the scene with his body doubles. Yukimura and Masamune go after separate Imagawas, but all of the doubles are killed by a third party, and when their paths cross again, they are in front of the menacing Oda Nobunaga and his army. It was Nobunaga’s subordinates that killed those body doubles, and Nobunaga himself proceeds to kill the real Imagawa with a shotgun blast to the head.

The drama series depicts the life of Tokugawa Ieyasu (January 31, 1543 – June 1, 1616). Takechiyo (who later becomes Tokugawa Ieyasu) was born as the son of a poor and powerless daimyo. Takechiyo lost his father during a war. He grew up lonely and away from his mother. Takechiyo didn't have a clue about what his future would hold. He then has a dramatic meeting with the young Oda Nobunaga.

Nio, alongside the other men whose hearts burn bravely and true, step forth towards an honest path with their blue wills adorned on their hearts!

Break-dancing but fierce warrior Mugen has to deal with the cold-blooded and conceited Jin, a samurai who believes he is above all. These sworn enemies are brought together by Fuu for a special task.

Hasegawa is a chief police of big heart who leads a band of samurai police and cultivates reformed criminals as informants to solve difficult crimes.

In the era when samurai controlled Japan... The Masked Demons annihilated all but one member of the Shinsengumi, who had worked to maintain the peace and public order in Kyoto. Seven criminals are chosen as substitutes for the deceased Shinsengumi members, and they are led by Ichibanboshi, whose parents were also killed by the Masked Demons. He becomes a substitute for Commander Isami Kondo and goes after the Masked Demons with the other substitutes to avenge his parents' deaths. Former criminals rise up to restore peace and order as their crazy story begins! Now is the time to shine the brightest!
